Casa de Piedra San Pedro de Atacama Reviews
Cosy, warm, good and FAST! Jul 28, 2011
Casa de Piedra is an inviting looking restaurant on Caracoles, the main street of San Pedro. We were tempted in by their sign outside, advertising pasta and pizza.
The restaurant consists of 2 parts. There's a small dining room in the front with about 7 tables. But there's also a large patio in back with several more. This is a great area if you would like to have lunch al fresco. At night there's a large bonfire at the patio, but that would have been too chilly for my taste...
Also in the front room, there's a fire place, which is surely recommended if you'd happen to be in San Pedro during winter. We always looked for a table close to the fire to keep us warm.
There's an extensive international menu with Italian food, but also chili con carne, bbq meat and a few Chilean dishes.
While waiting for your order, there’s complimentary bread with a spicy dip on the table. The dip is absolutely delicious.
We ate there 2 nights in a row. Twice the service was fast and impeccable and the food was really good and warm!
On the first night we had pasta Alfredo, the portion was not too large but it was well prepared and nicely warm. Though due to the chilly ambient temperature it did cool off before I could eat it all.
On the 2nd night we had pizza, which was also really good with a thin crispy crust and ample vegetables.
The soups and other dishes ordered by my table mates, looked all equally good. No-one was disappointed.
So if you're in for a fast lunch or a quick but good no fuss dinner, this surely is the place to be!
