Gran Canaria's resident Expressionist artist Mar 04, 2017
Antonio Padrón (1920-1968) was an artist from Galdar who returned there after training on mainland Spain. He spent the remainder of his life recording the people of Gran Canaria in his distinctive Expressionist style. Unfortunately he died prematurely.

The museum opened only a few years after the artist's death, in the building where he worked. The ground floor consists of two galleries of paintings and a tranquil leafy courtyard. Upstairs you can walk around Padrón's studio, with its easels and paintings. The lady on duty was very helpful and the entry price was 2 euros (reductions 1 euro).

Sean, fabulous review here. I must admit that I have neither heard of Galdar nor of Antonio Padrón before.
