Sella - A Beautiful Authentic Mountain Village, Alicante, Spain Jul 05, 2009
I stayed with a group of friends in the lovely Spanish mountain village of Sella. Some of us wanted to climb, others to walk and a couple just wanted to chill out! There was something there for all of us. Sella is famous for having some of the best rock in Europe and is also a popular destination for walkers. Surrounded by mountains and with its Moorish terraces planted with orange, lemon and almond trees, this area is stunningly beautiful. And its only 20 minutes from the fantastic beaches at Villajoyosa – so we were all happy!
We stayed with villagehouseinspain.com in a charming village house in the heart of Sella called Casa Mes Avall for just 13 euros per person per night. I went climbing most days – hundreds of bolted routes and fantastic limestone – while some of my friends went on some fabulous mountain walks with Martin, an English guide who is now lucky enough to live in Sella. We did a guided tour of the village, winding our way through its narrow streets and learning about its history. We had unforgettable evenings at the Casino Bar in the main square by the church, watching village life, eating great food and sipping cold beer and wine. We even had holistic therapy treatments by Solholistic at the Casa Mes Avall – just what you need after a days climbing or walking! All in all we had a fantastic week and I can´t recommend it highly enough. Roll on next year! |

In Sella one of our dreams came through: Tamar and me went climbing. Real rock climbing, outside, not indoor as before. We were thrilled! No we are not experienced climbers, far from it. The hosts of our B&B Villa Pico arranged an experienced cl…… Climbing in Sella |

The one and a half hour flight from Geneve went flawless. Easy Jet is definitely budget, but during the four flights on this trip, the attendants were all friendly, service was good, the sandwiches were fine and seating was not that bad. Arrivi…… It feels like home |
