Casa Hotel Nicarao Esteli Reviews

Very good place. The price of the room starts at $7 and it's without mosquitiera. All the rooms are located around very nice courtyard with lots of plants. The hotel has internet and a cheap restaurant.

A hotel run by a junta of women May 17, 2010
We had been staying at a large number of midrange hotels in Nicaragua which all have been run by families and Casa Hotel Nicarao in Estelí is another one of them.
The standard is quite basic end but I had a nice sized room with two beds which were nice and hard. There was also a small TV with loads channels; my guess would be around 100 different. The bathroom was quite small and needed a facelift but you had a good toilet and a shower with a hot water which absolutely was not standard in many of the places we stayed at.
The place was clean but not super, it had been some days since they had cleaned behind the door in the bathroom but they also mostly push the dirt around with their brooms in places like this anyway, but the beds are clean and smell fresh.
The hotel is run by a junta of women, probably some mothers, daughters and sisters in law. They all have something to say so we watched some good discussions during our stay. One of the discussion were directly involving us because it was about the price of our rooms that changed from 10$ to 15$ because of some mistake made by one being more junior.
From the street only a narrow entrance and a small white sign covered by hundreds of others signs gave an indication of that this place was the hotel that we looked for. The first sight that greeted you after you entered the small hall of the hotel was a display of different homemade donuts. After passing that you first get a picture of the scale of the building behind.
First thing on the right is something taken from and old fashion train station; it is the huge reception built up in wood and glass with a small hole to talk through. I don’t know which movie they had seen when they designed this but it was almost hilarious. Just behind that a small kitchen is situated that serves the tables situated in the yard of the squared house construction.
Around the inner yard the hotel’s 10 rooms are situated together with one large conference room that filled one of the four sides. The inner courtyard is nicely decorated with loads of plants, small tables, rocking chairs, birds, a Madonna figure and a duck that walks around like a family dog. It is all covered by a large tin roof construction which is higher than the surrounding roof and therefore lets in fresh air in; it is built like a huge shade.
As many other places; well even entire cities, the hotel closes down at 10.30 pm but at 6 am the activity level in the courtyard is pretty high again.
In general I will state that it is a nice place and it is also situated quite well in Via Central and close to Parque Central. The hotel was therefore also quite easy to find compared to hotels with given addresses in other cities, also because the streets had street name signs.
