A hidden beauty Sep 14, 2010
A nice stop on a walking tour is Casa do Alentejo. Located right behind the Praça dos Restauradores, this small 17th century palace is a hidden beauty with an insignificant façade . After you’ve climbed the stairs, you end up in a gorgeous courtyard with a small fountain. The arches are decorated in the Arabic Mudejar style, the furniture is made of sandalwood and the surrounding house has many Moorish influences. The upper floor now houses a restaurant and a small art gallery, so admission to the building is free.

'Kill two birds with one stone'. For a tourist, you can enjoy your meal and drink, and at the same time, you can take some nice photo like the one I did. The restaurant divided into a few rooms. They have a bar and the other potion is a restaurant. I was told that you could even have a private function at his place. You can see a small stage and a nice big chandelier in one of this room. It can look like a ballroom. I will definitely come back here the next time I come to Lisbon and this time I will bring along more friends. Hope this info help, gives me some feedback if you go. Look at my photograph, look like Al Hambra right? ;-) I like to be in this kind of environment. Very nostalgic and beautiful.
