CasAltura Santiago Reviews
Luxury! Dec 10, 2009
This is a pretty new hostel in Santiago and it is also a new type of hostel experience...for me, certainly. When I found it on Hostelworld (rated 96%), I checked it out. The prices at first made me baulk - $30 for a single room. However, it was my last night in South America and I wanted to treat myself, so I wento for it.
Not disappointed at all - its location is great in downtown and its is in a beautiful old 5 or 6 story building. Wondeful wooden staircase and floors throughout. Helpful staff (Nicolas & Phillipe), great facilities, including usual wi-fi and breakfast, hot showers (luxurious big bathrooms!) and a rooftop terrace from where you can see for miles - awesome.
My only reservation was that my room didn't have any curtains, which if you are a light-sensitive person like me, isn't great in the morning, meaning I was awake at 5am!
But otherwise, well worth that bit extra cash for a brilliant experience.
