Day IV (Ah, now were getting somewhere)
posted by:
May 22, 2006 - May 26, 2006
Our side trip today is to Carson City, the Capitol of Nevada. We didn't get much in the way of great photos today, but the ones we did get included some nice old homes and buildings. Old is a relative term. After being in Europe last year and seeing buildings and architecture dating back as much as five or six hundred years it's hard to think of these as old. But some are a hundred years old, and that's old around here. Dinner again tonight is back at the Hilton Hotel's Lodge Buffet.

Day 5&6 - Carson City
posted by:
May 25, 2006 - Jul 21, 2006
Today's ride was a nice one. A great little break from doing the Markleeville ride! We did an arrival at a Boy's And Girl's Club where we played with the kids, had lunch, did the Kids on the Block Puppet Show (a puppet show about people with disabilities), and a bike safety session. Before dinner, we played some knockout (that game…

Visiting all 50 US State Capitol Buildings!: Carson City Travel Photos
posted by:
Jun 08, 1993 - Aug 22, 2006
It started innocently enough; I visited Juneau, Alaska in June 1993 and explored the State Capitol building. A few months later, It was Montgomery, Alabama's. In the course of time, it became a hobby. Near the end it became a bit of an obsession. Then, in August of 2006, I visited my 50th US State Capitol building in Pierre, SD. (Yeh!) Yes, I know, I'm a geography nerd.... All entries are maintained in on the 'first visit' date.

Carson City and Virginia City

Aug 09, 2008 - Aug 22, 2008
We woke up in Carson City and headed to the Nevada State Museum which was the site of the mint in Carson City.  We also sawa book of the visitors to the mint and found "FitzGerald" from an 1877 register.  We then went east on US50 to Virginia City, Nevada which is an old western town with buildings and saloons that were from the 1800's.  The sidewalk was still wood planks and many of the building were original structure.  It was very cool to see.  We sa…
