Carrot Tree Restaurant Yorktown Reviews
Historic atmosphere at the Carrot Tree Sep 22, 2009
The Carrot Tree Restaurant in Yorktown is located in the 1720 Cole Digges House. (The house is owned by the National Park Service and leased to the restaurant.) A meal at the Carrot Tree give one a chance to take in the atmosphere as well as an enjoyable lunch.
The Carrot Tree serves a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads for lunch. All of them have fanciful names. I selected the "U.S. Grant" sandwich. This was a honey roasted turkey sandwich with dried cranberries, toasted walnuts and blue cheese served in a tortilla wrap. (What General Grant has to do with a tortilla wrap, I don't know, but it was good!)
If you can't find anything on the menu you like, Carrot Tree offers the "Tri Corner", where you have the "freedom to choose" any bread, meat, and cheese combination!
We had a slice of Carrot Cake for dessert (a specialty). Living up to the restaurant's name, it was the best carrot cake I have very had!
Carrot Tree is not a Williamsburg-style Tavern with costumed servers, but is has atmosphere. I liked the antique postcards of Yorktown (under glass) that decorate each table.
