Caroline's Lodging Travel Reviews

Aug 04, 2007
Caroline's lodging is named for the daughter of Teo and Anita who all run this dirt cheap, super friendly hostel in Huaraz in the quieter southwest corner of town.

The family adopt each traveler as a son or daughter and they are intimately caught up in the life of everyone. Every whim is attended to and they go as far as to organize lunches and dinners out in the town or at their dinner table in the hostel (but they say only the nicest guests are invited for these outings). Teo even came out dancing with us last night until late late at the club!

Coqui, the cousin, organizes trekking, mountain biking, trips to archeological sites and such.

Internet is available for 1 sol an hour and the use of the kitchen is permitted at 2 soles for the gas. They sell water, toilet paper, beer and other essentials for the same price as the store and they will do laundry for 3 soles a kilo. Breakfast is included with a little something extra each day, could be a pancake or egg or cheese.

This hostel, being so cheap at 10 soles a night, is heavily frequented by huge groups of Israelis and they don't interact with other travelers so much.

Only caveat is that I was bitten up by bedbugs all over my body during the week there. In the rooms with wooden floors there are more of them, they explained to me.
