Rio carnival .. Tourists trap :( Mar 14, 2012
That's by far my worst experience in Rio. I loved the city & the people, never had any issues before this night. Just to save you the long story,if you are planing to see the samba schools parade, here is the tips :

1) party starts at 9 pm , goes all the way til 7 am. You better be early cause even your ticket might say a seat number, there is no seats & it get really crowded later because they release no seat tickets too!! That also mean if you move you lose you spot. So it's better to go in a group.

2) Lots of people I met, Brazilians, buy the tickets on same day.. It's way way cheaper $$ than buying it online before hand.

3) if you went out, you can't come back in ( they really anal about that )

4) each school takes around an hour and a half . They dance their way slowly through with all the extravaganza , unbelievable colors , dancers but they use only one song so unless you are a die hard samba fan it gets boring.
