An Elephant in Notting Hill Mar 17, 2017
An elephant in Notting Hill? Surely not!

I am not joking.

Well, actually there is one, or at least something vaguely resembling the creature. It is a sculpture made in metal called 'Carnival Elephant'. It stands in a draufty, desolate spot surrounded by poorly designed buildings dating back to the 1960s.

The elephant structure dates back to 2003, and is a creation of the Lebanese sculptor Nadim Karam.

Behind and above it to the left as you look from the street, there are a couple of sculptures, a man and a donkey (??) perched above Waterstone's bookshop.

These occasional sculptures are supposed to liven waht is rather a bleak corner in Notting Hill Gate. I am not certain that they succeed!
