Carnforth Rail Station Sep 05, 2017
Carnforth railway station Lancashire England, is famous for being the setting of the 1945 film "Brief Encounter" staring Celia Johnson, Trevor Howard also Stanley Holloway. The film is a British romantic drama directed by David Lean. Story set in the latter months of 1938 when WW2 looming. "Brief Encounter"acclaimed one of ten greatest films ever in a poll in 1952. Today , Carnforth station houses a museum, heritage centre, in the middle of todays rail station. The refreshment room scenes were a studio creation, so today in a replica refreshment room you can enjoy thinking about the film, while having a scone and butter, with a pot of tea. Admission is free to museum, donations welcome.----I had travelled to Carnforth by bus from Lancaster, naturally the rail journey is possible. There is Pay and Display Car Park at the front of the rail station. --Today trains run to Lancaster,Barrow-in-furness,Carlisle and Leeds.

I'd like to visit this place too! Particularly appealing because it combines British railroad history to some extent with old movies both of which I love.
