Another Batali Gem! Jun 29, 2008
Carnevino is the new Batali steakhouse in the Palazzo (Venetian). As usual I had very high expecations for my fav chef, and as usual, Batali did not disappoint! Everything about it was great - knowledgeable, efficient, good service; warm inviting decor; and great food and wine! I was in heaven! They gave us each a complimentary cheese puff - so yummy and creamy! i think the cheese was parmesan but i'm not positive... who cares? it was good and that's all that matters!
We started out with a couple of appetizers - fried calamari in a light tomato sauce (lightly fried so that the calamari was still supple and tender, and the sauce was a nice complement, not overwhelming) and a fabulous caprese salad (perfectly ripe tomatoes with the creamiest, most buttery mozzarella)... mmm... that was soon followed by two pastas - the oriechette with sweet sausage (one of my faves!) and papperdelle with mushrooms. both were wonderful - perfectly salted pasta with fresh straightforwards ingredients. Afterwards we were served with our entrees - most of us had steaks(wonderfully flavored and perfectly cooked). I also tried sweetbreads for the first time - quite good! I can't remember whick malbec we had but it went very well with the entire meal. I finished off the feast with some moscato d'asti. the entire evening was simply lovely - great company and great food and wine. what more could one ask for? :) |

WINE + STEAK + CHOCOLATE = COMPLETE DINNER May 25, 2008
OMG i think this beats my ALL TIME FAVORITE STEAKHOUSE, Mastros in Beverly Hills, CA (SEE REVIEW). Thia a Mario Batali creation.
mum and i order and shared the “La Fiorentina” classic Florentine porterhouse FOR 2 black truffle vinaigrette on the side, ROASTED SHITACKE MUSHROOMS, and ZACK ALLEN'S CHOP SALAD for 2 as an appetizer. There all natural BBL beef is hand selected and aged in our meat chamber by our man, Adam Perry Lang. BBL Beef is often beyond regular USDA prime standards for marbling and flavor and is hormone and antibiotic free. They rub all of our beef with sea salt, black pepper and fresh rosemary to get a delicious and slightly charred crust. while we were waiting for our appetizers, we were served with these fried cheese balls, i forgot the name i was mesmerized by it. it was very light as i bit into it. it was 3 different cheeses, parmagano, chedder, and swiss. also chabada bread with lardo(aged pork fat with pepper, rosemary, and something else. WOW!!!!!! very different. MY VIENS ARE PULSING :) OMG as soon as our main entree arrived, it was carries out on a warm cart to be cut for 2 people. mum ordered it medium well which am not a big fan of. however, it did not matter it was cooked perfectly. it was not that red. WOW GOOD GOD I CAN EVEN DECRIBE THE FLAVOR. i think it is better then KOBE beef, so much flavor. we did not have to order the black truffle vinaigrette, but we wanted to, I LOVE BLACK TRUFFLES :) if you like red wine or wine wine, they have an INTENSIVE list of it. the 24in tall, 2 pages with #6 font size menu. YEAH VERY LONG LIST. I WOULD RECOMMEND COMING HERE. IT'S VERY PRICEY BUT IF YOU LIKE A GOOD PIECE OF STEAK THIS IS THE PLACE TO EAT.
