CARMINE'S - New York City

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Dinner at CARMINE'S in the Theater District, was included in our Tour Package. There was 52 of us, including our escort Paul. Almost immediately when everyone was seated, the waiters brought in baskets of garlic bread. Then came the mixed green salad. Entrees included Shrimp in white sauce with linguine - Penne - Chicken Marsala - Salmon Oreganato - all served family style on large platters. There was sooooo much food and all delicious.

There were pitchers of water and Cola on the tables and after dinner we were offered a wonderful platter of various desserts and tea or coffee.

I do not know the cost per person as it was included.

carmines theatre district new york Apr 27, 2009
In the theatre district you can find Carmines. this Southern Italian restaurant can be found on several places in America. They offer very good quality food. But the portions are very big. If you travel with 4 persons, 2 dishes are really enough. It is a very nice place to sit. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We have been eating at carmines in Albany as well. It is recommended by us.

Southern Italian Family Style Cuisine Jul 26, 2008
Are you strolling through the Theater District of New York City in Manhattan and starting to feel a bit hungry?

Just finished or about to view any of the entertaining plays "OFF" or "ON" Broadway? Is your palette aching for Italian food?

Well, this is the place....CARMINE"s on 44th Street

For those who are visiting upper NYC...Carmine's is also located on 2450 Broadway @ 91st Street ( Tel. # 212-362-2200)

This restaurant is always bustling with natives, tourists, and/or the "curious". This establishment serves "family style" Southern Italian cuisine with abundant/healthy portions(be prepared to take home a "doggie" bag). Check out their website and get your taste buds ready to "water" over the appetizers, entrees and desserts. You will not be disappointed,I was not..:-)

Hours of Operation

Mondays-11:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays-11:30 a.m.-12:00 midnight

Wednesday-11:00 a.m.-12:00 midnight

Sunday-11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.

Carmine's is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in Manhattan that is not located in Little Italy. There are two locations, one in Times Square and one on the upper West Side, I believe. The one in Times Square is frequented more by theater-goers and tourists. The other, though equally crowded, seems to be filled with locals and or return diners. The menu is on the wall, much like the west coast's Buca Di Beppo.

If I had to choose one type of food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be Italian, so my opinion is slightly biased...but my trip to NYC is never complete without a visit to Carmine's.

Everything is served family style, so go with a HUGE appetite, or with a lot of friends...or be lucky enough to be able to warm up your leftovers later. The din hardly ever goes away and you may have to wait a while for your table, but believe me, it's worth it.

FYI: This was the place I learned to like, no, love calamari.
