See, and Photograph, the Carmen Post Office Apr 14, 2017
As I was driving down U. S. Highway 93 en route to Salmon, I saw the small town of Carmen, liked the post office, and stopped to take a photo. Carmen is a tiny town of under 600 located along U. S. Highway 93 in Lemhi County in Central Idaho. Carmen began around the late 1860s and had an influx of ranchers in 1872. Carmen was named for Benjamin Carmen who built a sawmill on the nearby creek which also bears his name in the late 1860s (not named after a dark eyed senorita named Carmen like I thought). The cute little Carmen Post Office on U. S. Highway 93 was completed in 1935 replacing the post offices operated from various homes and businesses since its establishment in 1902.
