Rhytm in the heart of Rio Mar 29, 2008
This is the perfect place if you want to party in Rio, but in the local way. I have heard that I have to go to Lapa for party. This was right, especially if a local joins you. A local friend took us to Lapa – the bohemian area of Rio – specifically to Carioca Da Gema. There are many bars and restaurants in Lapa, but according to the locals Carioca da Gema is the authentic heart and soul of Cariocas (Carioca is how they call the people from Rio). This place is perfect to listen to authentic samba while having a drink and grabbing a bite.
There is live music and you can see people dancing in every corner. The enviroment is full of vibe and energy. You can feel the rhythm of the live music and the samba steps running through your body. The way the payment works surprised me. When you enter, they will give you a paper. So, you will pay when you leave. Everytime you order a drink, the barman or waiter, will mark it in the paper. At the end they do the math and you have to pay for your consumption. Don't loose that paper! That might costs a lot! Part of the My Southamerican Tour 2008 travel blog
