Carcassonne Vacation Guide
Carcassonne is separated in two parts (‘La cité’ and ‘ville basse’) by the Aude river.
Especially La cité is more than worth its visit. It is one of the most beautiful places in Europe, discovering this city makes you feel you’re back in the middle ages. The story goes that Walt Disney got inspired by this magical place, and used Carcassonne as an example for his theme parks.
The old walled city was even used as the setting for the 1991 film, "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"
