Nice face! Oct 10, 2011
This church sits in the centre of Rijeka, just opposite the bus station and dominates the local area. The Venetian style is very obvious from the façade, and the architects have clearly been influenced by the influences of the nearby region of Veneto in Italy. Although this is about a century old, and has been built over decades, this church is still not completely done and feels like a bit of an empty shell. The chapels inside, or the main altar, are hardly decorated. And it had the feel of an abandoned building rather than a church which is an actual part of the community. Still the façade is very impressive and is very photogenic for the area, and if you have some spare time for your bus, it’s worth a very quick visit!
