Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial Walt Disney World Reviews
So, ye wants to be a pirate? Arr! Mar 21, 2011
Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial is an open air show at Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. It capitalizes on the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean films and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride across the way. Of course, it's fun to see, too! The show is performed by two actors with audience participation.
Supposedly, Captain Jack Sparrow is looking for new recruits for his band of buccaneers. Mack, his comical crewman, appears seemingly at random to start the show. Mack calls for new recruits who will be trained in the fine art of pirating by Jack Sparrow himself. Jack Sparrow shows up, and children from the audience volunteer for the crew. Much fun is had by all with foam swordplay, drill, and piratical banter. All the kids receive a pirate crew certificate.
It is a fun diversion. The actor playing Jack Sparrow was definitely channeling Johnny Depp! The comical Mack reminded me of Mr. Smee from Peter Pan. The show also gives Disney a chance to use pirates to appeal to boys as it has long used the Disney Princesses to appeal to girls. (Girls will like this show, too!)
The show takes places about once very hour. Included with park admission.
