Capsule hotels are mostly used by Japanese businessmen there are a few that allow women to stay.
They are just a bed with TV, or radio and clock inside. Most will provide dressing gown, towel, toothbrush and a razor for men. Also bath/shower facilities are available. These hotel are normally located close to the train stations and have everything you need for an overnight stay. The cost is around 3,000 yen per night. If you want to experience the real Japan then I would recommend this. Part of the My experience of 6 years of Living and Teaching in Japan travel blog |

large group heading to Roppongi… Roppongi, Roppongi |

When I left you, I was preparing to head to Tokyo and to my capsule hotel experience. I left Kyoto at 10 am and was in Tokyo by 12:45, unfortunately the only time it was cloudy was right about where Mt Fuji is, so it appear that seeing from 30,000 feet is about as good as I am going… The Yen for Zen |
