Cheap and unique place to sleep in the airport Nov 25, 2014
Located in KLIA2 (KL’s second terminal), the Capsule By Container Hotel is a very unique hotel in the airport, very different than any one that I have ever stayed at.

Finding it can be a bit of challenge, as KILA2 is a huge terminal. You may have to ask or just look for signs pointing the way. It is located on the 1st floor.

This hotel is rated not by number of nights, but by number of hours stayed. There is the 3-hour, 6-hour, or 12-hour stay, for those who have long layovers in KL and need a place to freshen up and rest.

When checking in, you will have to leave a 50 MYR deposit. Or your passport if you are planning to leave Malaysia the next day, which is what I did, as I did not want to withdraw more of the Malaysian currency. You are given a key card to enter the hotel, towel, and a locker key, to store your luggage in lockers that are large enough.

The key card is needed to get through the first door, to enter the hotel, and second door to where the beds are. You enter with the slippers that are provided there.

The beds and bathroom are separated by gender. Each bed are located inside a container, hence the hotel name. And the beds are stacked, like a container on top of each other, very much like a bunk bed. It operates more like a hostel than a hotel.

Each container has an electric outlet to charge your devices, as well as a phone, which can be used to set the alarm for your wake-up call. A key card is needed to turn on the light. And a little table, to put any books or other things. Plus a blind to pull down, to give you some privacy.

Much to my surprise, the container did not feel a cramped as I thought it would be. This coming from someone who does not like tight spaces. And the bed is very comfortable, as I ended up sleeping okay.

Definitely an unique experience, and the only budget option near or within the airport, I recommend this place if having a layover in KL, or if you have an early morning flight. Or if you just need to take a shower after a long flight.

I wish more airports have this type of accommodations, as saves some time and money. And wished I had more photos to post, as I lost some of them.
