Cappella dei Pazzi Florence Reviews
Architectural wonder Oct 12, 2010
For any lovers of architecture, this chapel is a must-see site. It is located in the cloister area of the Basilica di Santa Croce, and if you pay the entrance fee for the basilica, you are able to see this site too.
The Pazzi family were a wealthy family in fifteenth century Florence, and were only surpassed by the grand Medici family. Though their name has become a minor footnote today, this building is a wonderful legacy to them.
The building is meant to be architecturally significant because of the way they combined the columns and the arches and the vaults together. However, I really liked the place for its artwork. The walls have this clean white finish to them and the dome towards the back of the chapel is painted with a wonderful rich blue and depicts some astronomical scene. The dome in the porch is rather wonderful too.
