The journey to Israel appealed to me for reason far less pious than I, sometimes, am willing to concede. Most simply: I went to reunite with a dear friend who had, by equal parts choice and chance, settled there. After eight years apart from her, I took the plunge. And it was, rewarding beyond measure, to our friendship, and,to me as Christian.

Ter gelegenheid van het 30-jarig huwelijk van onze ouders zijn we met het hele gezin twee weken naar Israël geweest.

I went with my daughter to Israel in Oct 2007 for an exceptional tour in the Holy Lands. It was the most fascinating experience to actually see where the Bible comes.

Het volgende onderdeel van vandaag was, na een bezoek aan de "kerk van de vermenigvuldiging"die hier even verderop stond, Capernaum. Hier worden nog steeds opgravingen gedaan.

Driving west the next town (just a few building now) was Capernaum. Here in Capernaum Matthew 8:5 tells the story where a Roman officer asked Jesus to heal his servant….Jesus called him a man of great faith.

Het was vandaag de bedoeling dat we om 8.00 uur aan de ontbijttafel zouden verschijnen. Dat lukte vrij aardig en na een lekker stevig ontbijt vertrokken we. We hoefden onze bagage nog niet mee te nemen want we zouden hier nog een nacht blijven. Eerst gingen we naar Kafarnaüm waar we wat rondkeken…
