Cape Tribulation - where the Rain Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. This is a nice break from the "backpacker mecca" of Cairns.
It is about a 2 hour bus ride north of Cairns and there are a few tour companies that can take you up there for a reasonable fee. Once you cross the crocodile infested Daintree River you enter into the beautiful rainforest area of Cape Tribulation. Plan on spending at least 1 night in the rain forest and another on the beach.
