Cape Sounion Reviews
Fantastic, Yet Easy to Reach Apr 10, 2011
Cape Sounion is a perfect afternoon getaway because of its close distance from the city center, merely 69 km southeast of Athens. The impressive sunset, the brilliant view of the surrounding blue ocean, those fine sand beaches beneath, are the main reasons to visit the cape apart from the ruins of the historical temple of Poseidon.
There is a taverna which offers variety of food, and a shop for souvenirs and other stuffs.
Getting there is quite easy. There is a bus line (called "orange bus") from the city center that goes straight to the place. It will not be mistaken because it is the only orange colored bus in Athens. Only one thing you need to know are the bus stations because they are only few of them. But if you don't feel like searching, booking to some tour operators through your hotel will be an answer but it will cost you several times higher. But then, last minute booking will do.
So, if you arrived in Athens in the noontime and just waiting for the next day's full activities, let the Cape Sounion trip fills the gap.
