Cape Leveque Reviews

Cape Leveque is a beautiful hidden pocket of the Kimberley, located on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. A drive from Broome to Cape Leveque included some 200 kilometres of unsealed road characterised by corrugations and sandy sections, so a four wheel drive vehicle isneeded travel and the road is not suitable for caravans.
We took a day trip with Chomleys and had a wonderful day - actually I would recommend even if you do have a 4x4 that you take a trip - they will arrange access to the communities and give you loads of local info that you would never know if you were just visiting!
You will need to allow three and a half hours for the drive from Broome to Cape Leveque and during the summer wet season the road will sometimes be closed to traffic and a whole day if your on a 1 day tour. We left at 0700 and got back at 1930 - tired! Please respect the land, culture and privacy of the local Aboriginal people. Drive slowly when entering communities and do not wander uninvited into residential areas. Excellent swimming, fishing and diving. Fly/drive, scenic flights, 4wd day tours and overnight tours are available ex-Broome. Aboriginal bushtucker and mud-crabbing tours available. Charter boat offers full and half day fishing, and picnic tours to Sunday Island.
Its really a great day and a lovely place - will def go back again and... if your into photography its an absolute MUST!
