tour @ the castle... Dec 23, 2009
after the tour in Kakum,Ama and i decided we go to Accra...we had a tour with a tour guide and we went to the dungueon underneath the church which the missionaries taught and worshiped.the dungeons where so not ventilation free and had a lot of slaves in them.the ones that died in there were taken out.the slaves where auctioned in a hall and they were labelled with a red hot metal so the buyers could know their goods(slaves). The stubborn slaves were taken to a room called CELL(room without windows)and they were left there till the last slave died anf their bodies were thrown into the sea.The female servants who refuse sex from the soldier were beaten, the ones that got pregnant by the soldier and commisioners where taken back to the towns...thats how come most people living near the coast hav FOREGIN surnames....eg BROWNE,WILSON,BLANKSON,WELLINGTON..ETC the slaves were taken thru the DOOR OF NO RETURN...which has a DOOR OF RETURN at the opposite side because some slaves return home to find their roots....PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA has been to this castle...WE THE BLACKS,HAVE VOWS TO FORGIVE ALL THE WRONGS COMMITED TO US AND STAY TOGETHER MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.....

Visitng Cape Coast Castle was a great, and quite moving, experience. There is a great museum on the history of the castle and slave trade in Western Africa and a tour of the castle takes you through the rooms were kept, throughout the castle, and through the door of no return.

The visit to this castle is breath-taking. First when you approach it (along the sea), then its architecture, but mainly while doing the tour understanding what has happened there. The brutality, the violence; and not even that long ago! Really a must see on your trip to Ghana. Go and get your head clear at the beach afterwards.
