Canterbury Roman Museum Reviews
Do as the Romans do Apr 17, 2009
Thanks to the bombing of Canterbury during the war a large portion of mosaic flooring was discovered and it is around this piece of history that the Roman Museum has been developed to tell of the town that flourished here for almost 400 years.
Many of the roman artefacts found have been placed into scenes appropriate to their usage so after entering the museum you will move down below the current ground level and through a series of rooms set up like a market, a house interior with kitchen and dining rooms, a family shrine and then through to the excavation site of the floor itself.
The final room is an interactive learning exhibit where children can become archaeological detectives.
The whole experience is very interesting and adds another dimension to the Canterbury city landscape.
