Cannery Pier Hotel Astoria Reviews
Almost as Good as Finding One Eyed Willy's Treasure Nov 02, 2014
When I pick out bad hotels…I pick out bad hotels. But when I pick out good hotels, sometimes I shock myself. I somewhat alternated between really nice hotels and really awful ones on this trip. This was definitely one of the best.
Astoria seems like a very quaint, small town where you would probably not find much more than a Motel 6. Finding a place as special as The Cannery Pier Hotel was truly a pleasant surprise.
Again, I will let the pictures speak for themselves but I will tell you this place rocks! It's beautiful. The rooms are stunning. Perfectly spotless and truly make you feel like you are on vacation. It almost seems to good to be true.
The common area is just as nice and offers the same stunning water views that the rooms do.
They offer a complimentary breakfast in the morning and I believe they had a happy hour offering, as well. I did not participate in either but I'm fairly certain it was nice.
Two of my favorite amenities of the hotel was the complimentary shuttle service into town. I included photos of it. The driver was incredibly nice and knowledgeable about the town. He even grew up there, left for school, and then returned. It's that kind of town - You want to go back. The other favorite amenity was the binoculars in the room by the bay window. Granted it was too foggy and rainy for them to do me any good…but it's a nice touch since the hotel is right on the water.
1. Go to the Fort George Pub and Brewery - Get the fish spread platter. Awesome!
2. The hotel will give you a map of the local film related attractions including The actual Goonies' House, The Oregon Film Museum (which is where the jail scene was filmed), and other fun facts for movies like Short Circuit and Free Willy.
3. There are also signs and arrows painted on the streets for the light house and The Goonies' House.
4. Do check out The Bridgewater Bistro that is right in front of the hotel. Ask for Natalie…she's the best!
5. Watch out for deer…even in the middle of the afternoon.
Highly recommend this hotel and Astoria in general. It's a must see.
