Cancun, Mexico Reviews
Avoid the main flea market in the Hotel strip Mar 13, 2011
Do yourself a favor and avoid the flea market on the Hotel zone, they are pricey and very aggressive!! Instead I recommend taking the bus to "Market 23" where you'll find better quality and better prices. When I went, I didn't see many tourists, saw mostly locals.
It's a great place to stock up on souvenirs and eat some authentic food.
"Reaching Market 23 is fairly easy. From the Hotel Zone just take "Ruta 1" bus. This one go straight to downtown and through Tulum Avenue. It will drop you off right at the entrance of the market. By taxi, simply ask for Market 23 as it is well known by everybody in Cancun."

Beaches & Water Sports:
Cancun Mexico has some of the best beaches in the world. The beaches are, without question, the biggest draw in Cancun with their soft, white, powdery, sand and crystal clear, warm, turquoise water. There are eleven beaches in Cancun Mexico, each of which has its own distinctive personality, and all of which are open to the public. The very best beaches are at the north tip of the island.
The sand of the beaches in Cancun Mexico is made of crushed coral rather than silica. The coral remains cool even on very hot days, so you need not be concerned about burning your feet. Beach sandals are not necessary.

The traditional markets in Old Cancun Mexico have numerous small shops selling locally made handicrafts, silver jewelry and colorful Yucatan hammocks. Good natured bargaining at these smaller shops is expected.
