Holland International Canal Cruise Amsterdam Apr 15, 2012
As I love a relaxing way to view the sights, I take another canal cruise with "Holland International Canal Cruise Amsterdam". It seems the boat ride is longer than the other canal cruise I have taken. Probably this boat takes about one and half hour ride and give more details explanation of the houses and goes into different areas.

In addition to the recording explanation, the captain also pointing and explaining the buildings and slowing the boat for us to have a better view. This boat also much more quieter without the big tour group around.

This company located on the left hand site of the tourist information centre Amsterdam (opposite Central Station). It cost 13 euro.

Useful review, and yes, you are right to do that; even though it is a really touristy thing, it is a great way to get a flavor of Amsterdam even on a short visit. And this one is not bad (was the previous one that you took called Kooyman?).

Touristic but nice Nov 24, 2008
Canal cruises in Amsterdam are very touristic but also very nice. Actually, we were the only 2 dutch people on the boat but the cruise is a great way to get a good view of Amsterdam without walking for hours. We had a boat of Tui International company which is located in the docks near the Central Station. We chose this company because this was one of the few companies that made cruises in the evening but there are more companies all around the docks. We started the tour in the industrial harbour of Amsterdam and then went to the old town of Amsterdam, the gentlemen canal, the emperor canal and the prince canal. You get some information about the sights in many languages. I liked it that we made the tour in the evening because lots of bridges and houses are lightned then. Besides the 'normal' cruise of an hour that we made, there's also a dinner cruise that will take longer.
