Campus Martius Reviews

A winter wonderland in Detroit May 01, 2008
Although Campus Martius is beautiful all year round, its the best in the winter. Opening day for "winter blast" there's live music, vendors (i love those roasted almonds...yum), lights, a huge christmas tree, and of course the main attraction, an outdoor ice-skating rink. The rink is huge and stays up all season long. It is the perfect to go to with a group of friends, or a first date :). i never had ice-skated before this year, my first time was on the Campus Martius rink! And let me tell you, the opening day is not for first timers lol...the rink is too crowded, but when you go later in the season, its a lot ore fun because there are less people. And there are always workers on the ice too, to help if anyone gets injured. The prices are a little high, this ear it was about 10 dollars to skate and get shoes. You are always welcome to bring your own shoes too. The price is well worth it though, you won't regret having the time of your life skating outdoors in a beautiful Detroit winter. :)

Campus Martius is a public park located at the heart of Downtown Detroit. The park has become a gathering place for office workers at lunch, families before Tigers games and residents looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun.

In the summer, live bands perform at lunchtime and throughout the day. Fourth Friday events bring movies and vendors to the park. In the winter, an ice skating rink fills the park. Entrance to the rink is a small fee.
