Camping Zeeberg Amsterdam Reviews

Camping in Amsterdam Jan 16, 2011
I have stayed here four times, each time when I drove here by car. Twice I camped in the summer when the campsite is fairly busy. The people seem to be of all ages and the atmosphere is brilliant. Campfires, BBQ's and guitars playing in afternoon are to be expected, as is a familiar smell.

In the winter the campsite is basically empty, however they offer cabins and cabinettes for a reasonable price.

The cabins/cabinettes are for 2, 4 (maybe 6) people, and you get a bed, small table and most importantly a controllable thermostat. I found it very comfortable indeed.

The facilities are immaculately clean and the staff have always been extremely helpful. There is a shop at the campsite selling all one needs to survive, and out of hours there is a vending machine selling snacks, shower tokens, drinks etc for those 'in need'.

About a 15 minute walk across a bridge to a tram stop and a further 10 minutes by tram and you're at Central Station. Trams fun fairly late and regularly, but in the early hours a bus service replaces them.

Perfect if you have a car, want to camp or if you want to get away from the hustle of Amsterdam centre when you actually sleep. I'd reccommend it if travelling in a small group as you have a base to go back to smoke, drink and cook as a group.

As a personal tip, there are some goats in a pen in the middle of the camping area. If you have a choice, don't pitch right next to them. Try and pitch right next to your car if you have one, that way you can leave stuff in there without it being an inconvenience.

Random Info:

Cold water for washing and drinking is free.

Hot water is charged at 50c for enough to wash up (as I recall).

Shower tokens are about 1.5 Euro, last about 6 min (as I recall).

Tea, Coffee and Pastries available at shop.

Included in police patrol (so the site is fairly secure)

Allows smoking (both kinds) and legal drugs.

Offers helpful advice, bike rental, maps etc.
