Camping Don Suero de Quinones at Hospital de Orbigo
The campsite is situated off the N120 between Leon & Astorga. It is easily signposted. It´s on very flat ground. Reception is open from 9am to 11pm. The reception staff are very friendly, efficient & informative. There are two shower blocks with disabled access. They are very clean & the water was very hot! There was a shop that opened around 10am until late. The stock was very basic. When we asked for matches for our camping gas they didn´t have any. It´s a basic requirement I would have thought. There is a bar. We thought the beer was expensive – we only went in there once. The bar does promote snacks such as chicken & chips for around €8 but we didn´t try that out. There were lots of static caravans but plenty of spaces for casual campers. We didn´t book in advance. Whilst we were there it wasn´t crowded & it was very quiet. However it was June & the weather wasn´t that good. The village boasts several bars & a couple of them serve meals such as pizza, ham, eggs & chips etc. at a very reasonable price. There is also a small supermarket that boasts much of what you could want. A ten minute walk through the village takes you to bus stops where you can take Alsa buses to Leon (40 minute journey) & Astorga (20 minute journey). The services are quite regular; aprox. every half hour. This campsite is ideal for those wanting to explore Leon & Astorga & the surrounding area as well as those walking the Camino Trail.
