Campbell Town is a lovely historic town on the midland Highway, about halfway between Hobart and Launceston.

Named by Governor Macquarie, after his wife Elizabeth, whose maiden name was Campbell; it sits on the banks of the Elizabeth River.

Campbell Town is home to The Red Bridge, built by convicts in 1838 with more than one and a half million bricks that were made in the town. The bridge carries over two million cars a year and has had very little work done in its long history.
