Campanile Brussels Drogenbos Reviews
Good choice if exploring south of Brussels by car Sep 28, 2012
The location is the reason why Campanile Drogenbos will be convenient or bothersome for you: the difference is decided by whether you have a car and intend to explore beyond Brussels.
It is possible to take public transportation from Campanile to the city centre in less than 20 minutes from the bus stop in front of the hotel, but you'll have to learn another route back if you return after day-time bus services ends (I think around 18:00).
However if you have a car and intend to drive to other Belgian destinations (Waterloo, and points South), Campanile Drogenbos might be quite handy. You will not want to take your car into Brussels center -- traffic is terrible and parking is difficult. If your other destinations are to the north or west (Brugge, Antwerpen, Gent) stay on the northern side of the city.
If you don't have a car, I'd advise choosing a hotel closer to the city center at a similar rate.
But now to consider the hotel itself: staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are comfortable (but no AC) though light sleepers might want to be careful which room they take as the parking lot can be as noisy as the highway behind the building! My closed window blocked the sound well, but I wanted it open for cooler air.
Coffee/tea supplies were replaced daily and even on my 'do not disturb' day I still got a package of clean towels and coffee supplies left at my door.
The hotel has a secured parking lot and a full restaurant. We had an acceptable dinner in the restaurant our first night, but never tried the breakfast buffet as it seemed too expensive. In-room wifi was free and reliable.
It's a standard chain hotel -- not much charm, but predictable and reasonable. The location worked well for my group, because our local relatives could use the parking lot rather then endlessly circling one of the parking-less downtown hotels.
