Camp Casey is located 11 miles (18 km) south of the Korean De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) and 40 miles (65 km) north of Seoul.  It was named after MAJ Hugh B. Casey who died in a plane crash on what is now Camp Casey.  He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (US Army's 2nd highest award for valor) for his actions at Hungman Beachhead.
