A very delicious BBQ restaurant downtown in Marsa Matruh Aug 15, 2009
I personally adore the BBQed food. So going to Camona restaurant was a real source of joy to me. The restaurant is located downtown in Marsa Matrouh, it is a very popular restaurant up there so you can always ask about directions and everyone will tell you where it is.
When you reach your destination, you 'll find "camona restaurant" on both sides of the street. I always went into "camona village", I am not sure about the other one but "camona village" seemed better. Inside the restaurant, there are two types of places where you can sit. The first type is the very normal table-and-chair type that we all know about :). yeah, pretty simple, grab a chair, sit, wait for the food to be served on the table, then start to eat, very innate, right? :) The other way to sit is called "Arabic way of sitting", "aada araby" in arabic. I think it is named this way because it was the way Arabs used to eat long time ago. To elaborate more, everything in the "aada araby" is low: a very low table that is extremely near from the floor, a very low sofa+pillows surrounding this table. As a matter of fact, the soft sofa and the very soft pillows may give you the illusion that you will feel very comfy while eating _many people still find it more comfy_ but in my perspective, I didnt find it comfy actually because of the very low body posture. But anyway, new things are always worthy of trying. The second time I went to this restaurant, I preferred to sit the normal way and I liked it better. My friends loved the other arabic way more so I had to go through a lengthly argument against three friends to convince them about the normal way of sitting :). Now lets speak about the food. the food is really great. you will find any BBQued thing you will ever want. I know it is hard to translate food names, but i just googled them and I found they have the same names in English and I added some illustrative photos anyway. My favourite plate was a mixed plate of shish kebab and kofta (BBQued different types of meat usually served together) and BBQued chicken. My friends tried other things as well and they were very satisfied. So this review in short says: If you are not a vegetarian, and you are in Marsa Matruh. Go Camona restaurant :). have fun.
