Camlica - Pine Tree Hill Feb 25, 2017
Çamlica means Pine Tree Hill. It is actually two hills: Küçük Çamlica which means Little Pine Tree Hill and Büyük Çamlica which means Big Pine Tree Hill. There is a large TV tower on the top of Büyük Çamlica.

At 267m above sea level Büyük Çamlica is the highest point in Istanbul. We used to walk up here for the views. I remember once climbing up here after a period of heavy rain and having to wade through mud. Some locals were calling out to us in German, "Gute Strasser, wir haben." As many Turks have lived and worked in Germany, they often address foreigners in German as it is a language they can speak fluently.

From the top of Büyük Çamlica you have an excellent view over the Bosphorus and the Bosphorus Bridge. There are cafes and tea shops at the top of Büyük Çamlica, so we could sit and enjoy a refreshing glass of Çay or knock back a nice cold Efes Pilsen beer after our climb.

Çamlica is on the Asian side of the Bosphorus not too far from Üsküdar. It is a popular place for a picnic.

Spend an evening in Camlica Hill, Istanbul with a spectacular view May 08, 2013
Spend an evening in Camlica Hill, Istanbul with a spectacular view. You could get there by Istanbul sightseeing bus called City Windows Travel system. The night bus takes you to Camlica Hill the Istanbul's highest point (Ho Ho point) and picturesque view from the top. The bus cross over Bosphorus Bridge into Asia from Europe side of Istanbul. You could also get there by a taxi.

Best time to visit is late afternoon, the crossing of the Bosporus bridge and the views it offers will be a life time experience. There are restaurants at the top of the hill, you could enjoy Turkish food while a wonderful view through the glass window. the The Buyuk Camlica hill has the best view, a truly amazing panoramic vista of all of Istanbul's main waterways, the Bosphorus Bridge, the historic Eminonu Peninsula, the Princes Islands and even Mount Uludag near Bursa.

If you are taking the Night City Tour Bus then you have limited time to spend on top of the hill (around 45 mins) but that is enough to walk around the hill, have food in the local hill top restaurant and shoot awesome pictures. I enjoyed every moment I stayed there.
