Now I don't know about you, but when I think of the Egyptian desert, I think of camels as well. So, when I knew I was traveling to Egypt, I knew that I wanted to ride a camel in Giza. After chatting with the locals, I learned some valuable information that I want to share with you all. When you pay your money to enter the pyramids site, you will be bum rushed by people trying to get you on camels. These people give you an outrageous price that can usually be talked down a bit, but not much. Unless you give them a flat "no", they will follow you around, constantly asking if you want to ride the camel yet. These people just don't know good business. I've heard from people that if you do ride their camels, they will try every trick in the book to get you to pay more. Such as, they won't let you off the camel, or they will talk about extra expenses or tips. The trick to avoiding all this is to ride a camel out at one of the camel stalls. These folks have a shop and a reputation to keep, so they will give you a set price and then turn you loose with a guide. I suggest taking the camel into the desert and getting a picture of all the pyramids at once.
