Camden has a nice historic district with several buildings of historic and/or architectural interest. There are six locations in Camden listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Camden Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church building has a simple beauty and was completed in 1849 with revisions in 1906; the First Presbyterian Church of Camden was organized in 1845 the current building was completed in the 1880s replacing the 1856 church which burned down; the Wilcox Female Institute Building is another fine example of Greek Revival architecture. It was built between 1845 and 1850 then in 1850 the school opened serving the higher educational needs of the women of the county until 1910. The Wilcox Female Institute. Like the Wilcox County Courthouse the Wilcox Female Institute is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
