Calvary in need of restoration Oct 08, 2016
On a hill above the town centre, a ten minutes walk north of Marianske namesti in Bohosudov and near the base station of the chair lift, is a calvary that was built in the 18th century. It is related to the pilgrimage to the basilica Bohosudov. A Way of the Cross with several stations leads through the woods to the calvary scene (pic 1) and a Baroque chapel (pic 4).

Unfortunately the Baroque chapel is in poor condition and not open to the public, I read that there is a masterfully crafted Jesus Christ figure inside. The calvary scene was replaced by cast iron sculptures in 1905. It depicts the crucified Jesus Christ in the middle, his mother Mary on the left and St. John Evangelist to the right side. Not all of the stations along the Way of the Cross are preserved. They were made of granite stone, with cast iron plates depicting the passion of Jesus Christ (pics 2 and 3).
