Calipatria Vacation Guide

Calipatria is the gem of the northern Imperial Valley, a large agricultural area irrigated by canals from the Colorado River. Attractions include several streets, and a number of houses and vacant lots.

Temperatures are usually in the 100's, so bring your sun tan oil. Accommodations are within an easy walk of the pesticide plant, crop dusting airport, and slaughterhouse. Calipatria State Prison and a landfill are only a short drive away.

For the tourist, there is one thing to see... a 184-foot tall flagpole. Calipatria is built below sea level, and the top of the flagpole reaches sea level. Ok, there's also a really big thermometer and clock, makes a good photo op: "10pm, still 95 degrees"

"It's a dry heat"
