After you've taken a trip to Alcatraz, waited in line to drive down Lombard, waited in line for a cable car, taken a picture of the Haight-Ashbury signs and battled crowds at Pier 39, you may be ready for a more authentic and modern San Francisco experience. This is probably the best option to get from Los Angeles International Airport to Carpinteria/Santa Barbara/Goleta and vice versa. A one-way ticket is $42 and a round trip $80, if it is purchased online. On the bus, they would cost $46 and $86. You can also get a discount depending on how many peopl…

Head for Southern Utah, and follow the 5 National Parks there towards Moab, Utah, through the Escalante Region. Even if you don't have much time for the parks themselves, the scenery all along there is aweso…

Hello All:
UPDATE: 10/24/2007 9:15AM PST
I was able to return to my home last night at 11:00PM and it was wonderful to see that it was there and the fires did not touch it. I know it is just an object, but it is nice to have a place to sleep.

Good list by Jeffy. Expanding upon it: the Getty Center and/or the Griffith Observatory are musts... they are the two best views of Los Angeles. Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd is a big tourist attraction, so is Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Wander around Venice Beach on a weekend and yo…
