Singapore -› Narita, Japan -› ...
After 17 years, erm, I mean hours of transpacific flight (1 hour layover and change plane in Tokyo-Narita airport), I finally arrived in LAX. I slept for mostly during this long trip because there was nothing better to do since Northwest's boeing 747 plane from Tokyo to LA has no on-demand, individual entertainment system on the Economy cabin (they should really think about upgrading their planes!). But anyhow, I also do had to catch up with my lack of sleep during the past weeks. So, a…

What a rush....

I had been talking to Steve for a while about learning what it takes to get up in the air on my own.  Talked about what he likes and how he actually became a pilot.  Everything he spoke of had me intrigued. I received an email with a name of a FAA certified flight school and an encouragement to call if I were really interested.  I was then speaking with Nicky a little and he told me to go for it. A little while later.  I did call to find out more information and make an …

How Does An Unemployed Woman in LA Spend Her Time? Twenty days at home.  Can I stand it?  What will I do with myself?  I don't have any Facilitator Guides to study.  I don't have any Expense Reports to complete.  I don't have any Annual Reviews to write.  Well, I am going to do what everyone in LA does.  I'm going to do lunch!  I've got lots of friends I have not seen in a while.  It is time to catch up.  What else do they do in LA?  Wor…

Mark (travel727) got a list of all the attendees at the Jade Bar tonight, I think we had almost 40 people there! My husband Kevin and I and our friends Ed and Susan (also travbuddies) arrived at the Jade Bar a little after 5:30, and as expected, Ekua, Roger, Judy and Mark were there already! We had no problem recognizing each other and started to talk, order drinks and eat!It was wonderful to finally meet Roger (X_drive), Judy and Mark, Ekua and all the other travbuddies! I enjoyed talking to…

Well I do! Chatted a bit with Mattrilla this morning, who was really sorry to not be able to join me in Rome. Woteva! (as the Brits would say). I'm just hoping to survive and find Jeremy. Would have been awesome to have Matt here but my schedule is pretty packed as it is. Plus, it would have ruined our future honeymoon together!Best friend Joyce is awake, as is Will, thank god. My mind is spinning but it was nice to have a little chat here, a little text there. I'm trying to get him to send m…

San Francisco - Day 1
posted by:
Jul 19, 2007 - Jul 23, 2007
This morning, I woke up at 11:30 A.M. and took a trek down to the California Street Cafe again for coffee to go with Eric. I'm starting to get a feel for the area and feeling comfortable. The lady behind the counter thought my husband, Eric was IRISH and loved his accent. (After living in America, Eric's German accent has transformed into some odd difficult to define mixture that is always mistaken for something else.) She was incredibly open and friendly. We also picked up some sushi and smo…

I love watching the fog roll over the Golden Gate Bridge from my bedroom window. It's a mystical sight.. especially when it rests on the water and moves across the horizon. It almost appears unreal. I can't get enough of the sight. The view keeps shifting and changing on an hourly basis. Sometimes I'll rest my elbows on the window sill with my head in my hands..and just absorb it. I'll feel so at peace..I know other people have this view and they probably start taking it for granted. They stro…

I don’t know how many meet-ups you have been to and as a matter of fact I’m not sure how many I have been to either.  But the one I attended today was one of the best so far. Now this one wasn’t advertised much on TravBuddy because work schedules and availability had a big hand in this mini-meetup.  Originally it was to have been on Sunday, but as I mentioned above life happens. We had talked back and forth for easily two weeks trying to get time, place, and everything els…

{The first of possibly many--possibly two--meetups! I surely did not know what I was getting into. . .}   There is nothing quite as annoying as taking a good ten minutes out of your life to get to the bus stop early--knowing you’re just gonna be standing there in the hot sun doing nothing, but not willing to take the chance on it coming early and making you late for work--and gawking at said bus chugging down the street while you’re stuck behind a red light on the other side. Serio…

Disneyland

Ever since I was a little girl it was a dream of mine to go to Disney World. I have an obsession with Disney stuff and I truly admire Walt Disney. I can’t picture what the world would be like without a little bit of magic. I have not been able to visit Disney World yet, but when I took a trip to California I just knew that I had to visit Disneyland. After all this was Walt’s first Disney Park.   I had so much fun that day; I felt like a kid again. And best of all, my friends and I …
