So my brother decided he wanted to go fishing this past Friday and invited me, our friend George and my dad George for a little trip down to Balboa Pier to fish. We got there around 8 at night and were able to find good parking. The beach was clearing out the sky was beautiful. The sunset soon after we arrived and left a stream of color through the sky. We grabbed our crappy fishing poles and headed out. We found a bench and a nice man who cut some bait for us (we were slightly unprepared) th…

One more day of waiting to get on that plane and start my adventure. To fill the time, I prepared a few tips for when I travel. Hope it's helpful! Packing Tips: Whenever I travel, I prepare a packing list so I don’t forget anything. (I have a standard form which I customize for each individual trip.) For my trip to SE Asia, I am bringing the following key items: - Breathable, fast drying clothes. W…

That last drive for us is about 350 miles. It’s that long one that we have done over and over and over again. And every time we do it we dislike it just the way we disliked it last time and time before that. I doesn’t seem to matter whether you start early to get home earlier or put it off as long as possible to just enjoy even a few more minutes of vacation, I still don’t like that last trip home.
Even though you hate that last drive of a vacation, it sure i…

Before I had even left for my second trip to CA, I knew I would give all of my travel clothes to Lilian (my Teacher in Antigua) at the end (not that it was any great gift considering I had been wearing the crap out of them). Therefore, I wanted to stopover in the US on my way back to do some shopping. The year before I done a stopover in Phoenix and really liked the area, but for some reason I was itching to check out San Francisco (I was also itching because of the hostel in Tela, but …

This is our last day here before we fly back to Los Angeles. But today, I made sure I was going to do everything I left out on my list of things to do. First, clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. We headed off to the wharf around 9AM, where we knew that it wasn't going to be crowded... especially during that time of day. We went to the nearest one we could find. Me and Karen shared one, and I have to say that it's one of the best breakfasts that was the most affordable to me.
For the…

The new wing was bitterly disappointing. Since when is hanging 4 cop uniforms on the wall considered art?
There was a cool huge statue of a balloon poodle.

Today was the day to return to reality. I had booked a airport shuttle to pick us up. I went online and found one a bit more reasonable than the one suggested by the hotel. The driver picked us up (on time) and started for the airport. We had to make one more stop, down a very long and narrow alley. I was impressed when the driver backed his way all the way back down the driveway...don't think I could have done it with out leaving some paint on the walls.
When we got to the airpo…

It was a 757 plane, which 3 seats then aisle then 3 seats. “A” text me that I lady liked her seat and she does not want to give it up. no prob I will just blog and pass out. I ended up sleeping and waking up no knowing we took off. WOW I was tired. I woke up almost half of the movie of “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day” I like the movie. However, I need to Netflix it to understand it of course. After that movie, the next plane movie was “…

While we are very excited about our upcoming trip, we are slighty nervous about what we are going to do and how we are going to do it once we get there. We are both seasoned travelers and know it will all work itself out but as of this moment, Jen is working full time and going to USCs MBA program, and I am trying to run a small behemouth of a business. Last night, on our way down to see Angels and Airwaves and Bad Religion (which ROCKED, btw), we decided we needed to nail …

First day of the year 2008, we wake up and start to get ready to pack up and check out. I didn't feel all too great but I went along with everyone to at least have brunch.
We took a drive and made our way over to Cheesecake Factory. We're driving , we're driving, driving around looking for parking. No such luck of course. Dang, everyone was out and about. While we were on the verge of giving up and pulling into an hourly charged car garage we got a call fro…

Board a flight in SFO in the afternoon. We checked in online just before leaving home, which was a good thing, because at the airport, the line for checking in was very slow, and the quick bag drop off line for online checked in passengers were much faster. We had more than a couple of hours to spare after checking in and going through security. Nothing eventful, the flight was on time,On the airplane, the inflight entertainment system was having some problems, and they had to "reboot" it, I …

so going to the happiest place on earth doesn't come without it's fair share of stress, but that was only a small part of the day.
Let's just say.... after planning to go to Disneyland in the heart of Southern California...it seems that I have left everything to do until the last minute. So now rushing to get to the park to meet Erin, I am running late after doing last minute errands and laundry.
So now it's 10:30....I should have left already. I get to the park at 11:10 and cal…

I was reading the travel forum at work when it said that there is going to be a mini meet up in Santa Monica on March 28. I contacted pvtjoy (the organizer)to let her know that i was thinking of going, i gave her my contact number and immediately responded to me. She sounded really nice on the phone, we chatted for a little bit. She said don't think about going just go and you'll have a good time, boy was i glad i did because it was a blast! I want to thank Jo…

As the Port of Los Angeles developed in the 1930s, Croatians from the islands of Dalmatia immigrated to fish, and later work the port. You hear Croatian spoken on the street, which is unusual, since there are only a couple million Croatians in the world, but again, 30,000+ of them live in San Pedro! They were trying to tell me that San Pedro is the second largest Croatian city, outranked only by the capital Zagreb in Croatia. How did I end up there? My friend invited me to Croatian indepe…
