Calangute is one of the most visited beaches of Goa, situated in North Goa. This beach was once said to be one of the golden beaches of Goa. Still popular with tourist and attracts large crowds throughout the year. This beach is a popular destination with local tourist. Like at all beaches, the peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May. In the monsoon season, June through September, the sea is rough and swimming is prohibited. Water sports like parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides etc are available on this beach.
There are lots of options available for accommodation, along the beach and road. Mapusa is the closet City and there is a very good network of buses through and fro. There are also options available for renting a 2 or 4 wheeler or hiring a Taxi. Usually renting a 2 wheeler is the cheapest and best option, if you know how to ride!
