Personally, for me, there was a voice in my head going "Du-bai Du-bai Du-bai DU-BAI... DUUUUBAAAAI"…

ALTERNATE EGYPT
Again! Again! This was the united cry from family and friends that assailed our ears, when Nirupa and I announced our return to Egypt. A call we can never ignore!
But this was to be a trip with a difference (Yes we would do the traditional tombs, temples and monuments ramble) but…

Well, after a long travel day, I have spent my first full day in Egypt. The
flights over were uneventful, but unfortunately, Air France provides about as
mych leg room as the back seat of my MINI -- it was actually, laughable, so
that is what I did a lot. The little tv screen was so close to m…

I realized that my trip was half over and had mixed emotions. Somewhat relieved and somewhat sad. At Amideast Headquarters we were due to depart for a lecture at the Egyptian Banking Institute, but the State Department had called a day earlier and asked us to fill out a predepatu…

Derek (derekbilldaly) wrote a blog retracing The Steps of Moses from Israel back to Egypt. And along with it he included several great photos of his journey. He was very good about putting some little comment or description under the pictures too. Well, when I saw one of the shots with …

Beautiful Chaos is what comes to mind when I think back about my trip to Cairo. I once heard a tour guide say "Cairo is a place you get in and get out fast," I disagree I think Cairo is the "Pulse," or "Heartbeat" of Egypt. A big bustling city, yes it is but in there lays a concrete fou…

Well, what can I say? This is one of those "I can't believe that I'm doing this" moments. I hope I continue to have those and never grow tired of them. Arriving in Cairo is a unique experience, especially to those who have never been. You will be mobbed by people trying to "help" you, get you a rid…

I should have named this blog "Egypt at 120 kph" because of the rush trip that we made in 1 day. That is how fast our driver was going all day. We were working on an old steam ship, a tramp steamer, and had taken a load of cargo to the Egyptian Army in Alexandria. We were in …
