A beautiful Hotel in Central Cairo right next to the Nile River on Zamalek Island. A converted 19th Century Palace with two modern Tower blocks added. Highly recommend the JW Steakhouse Restaurant. Great rooms with a Nile River view.

Nice bar and restaurant May 09, 2011
The bars and restaurants are also nice to visit for an evening out, particularly the outside areas.

Drinks tend to be good, although not cheap, and you can sit with some friends and a shisha and not feel hassled in any way.

Theh service can be a bit patchy, though :-)

Palatial Luxury Jan 16, 2010
Absolutely amazingly gorgeous hotel - formerly a palace - in serene Zamalek. It's walking distance to the restaurant strip of Zamalek and right on the Nile.

We normally couldn't afford this, but thanks to Marriott's friends & family program we could. If you can - do!

The bakery is yummy and has wonderful European style coffee, the pool incredible, the rooms and beds dreamy, and the beer expensive.

The grounds are amazing - they have a bread baker every morning baking bread outside, a bank which will reluctantly give out change, and many other tourist shops on site.

We did not try the hotel restaurants but did take photos of them - gorgeous rooms with soaring ceilings and decorations.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

It was our first experience with Egyptian hotel security and one of the few that took it seriously. Many other hotels tell you to walk around the metal detector - not this Marriott! They checked us every time, even if we'd just stepped out to take photos, and had no qualms about asking to look inside your bags.

Great cairo Hotel Oct 03, 2009
This hotel is outstanding and has an interesting history as well. The central part was built as a palace in which Empress Eugenia of France could stay when she visited Cairo during the building and dedication of the Suez Canal. It is now flanked by two more modern high-rise wings in which are located most of the guest rooms. There is also a lower, semicircular building with more rooms or suites. In the center of all this is a large garden area, restaurants and the spectacular pool. There is a diverse variety of restaurants inside as well as out and, as one would expect a number of boutiques and other shops.

From what little we saw of it, the casino is really small. We’re not big on casinos, though, and the one time we decided to have a look inside we were wearing shorts and were kindly asked to hit the road. Just for fun, we attended a belly-dance show one evening and had a blast.

This hotel is conveniently located and on several occasions we enjoyed walking outside. We found the experience and the locals delightful.

Best hotel in Cairo Sep 13, 2009
My husband and I went to Cairo because of business and Marriott was the perfect choice - was located in the embassy neighbourhood. It has everything one can imagine... many restaurants, pools, shopping area, 10 reception desks, taxi-desk, check-in desks and about 10 exits and 10 entrances...with many gardens - is a paradise. The room is large (we stayed in the refurbished part of the hotel) and the bathroom is perfect. We had view to Nile and every morning we were having our breakfast on the balcony...was amazing...and the temperature was great for December:)
