Caffe San Rocco Erice Reviews
Popular cafe & restaurant in Erice Jan 15, 2016
San Rocco Caffe is located a short walk from the main Erice square, Piazza Umberto, up Via Gian Filippo Guarnotta, and is near the Ettore Majorana Centre housed in the San Rocco monastery. This is where the cafe & restaurant takes its name from. There is a bar/cafe located in the front end and the dining room is in the back end. It is a cozy dining establishment with a charming decor consisting of wooden beam ceilings and stonework walls. This is in keeping with the look of a monastery or a wine cellar perhaps. It seems to be one of the more popular places in Erice.
The food here is always good and the service prompt and friendly. When it gets crowded there can be some waiting, but it’s a place to sit and enjoy the intimate surroundings in conversation with dinner companions. The creamy pasta dishes are excellent and various popular fish dishes like swordfish and tuna are usually on the menu. Even with a crowd it’s never too noisy and the irregular stone walls and wooden beam ceiling seem to mute the sound efficiently.
